another spring day

should have shot a picture of the eureka tower from the botanic gardens this morning (I walked under my umbrella the whole way) but did not bring my camera.  You can get the idea from the buildings across the river which are not nearly so tall.  Been drizzling all day!

!!!warning!!! more food porn ahead

The do some pretty crazy stuff with churros here.  And they call them spanish donuts!
Sorry for the bad quality of this photo.

Found the deli section of Queen Victoria Market -
I know someone who would just live here.

Update

turns out that the tan is actually paved in asphalt on the slope at the back side.  So the tan is really the black & tan if you manage to haul your sorry ass all the way around.  This sorry ass went round twice this morning.

Wayne's best photos

Healsville and the Yarra Valley Roadtrip

At the Healsville Sanctuary. Wayne took 236 pictures on his good camera!  Promise to steal a few for my blog, when he is not looking.

TarraWarra Estate - a beautifully situated vineyard with some good wines.

Incredibly detailed corrugated metal family of cows.

Walk along the Yarra

I rode the train with Wayne to his work this morning and then walked home along the Yarra River.  It is a lovely day in Melbourne...the first lovely day.
They have rubbish traps at regular intervals along the river.  This morning Parks personnel were cleaning one.  Great job, don't you think?

The shared path is very well used by cyclists.  These narrow parts make it feel a little uncomfortable on foot.

Great use of space under a freeway.  There were two climbing walls and some skateboarding facilities as well.
Most of the bridges over this section of the Yarra are beautifully detailed.

Perfect day to be on or along the river!

Sorry, can't help myself.  Solar powered path lighting.

It is a little like Paris and the Eiffel Tower.  You seem to catch glimpses of the Eureka Tower from just about everywhere.
And speaking of the tower, here's a shot from the skydeck in the general direction of where I was walking this morning.

Okay!  Time for a shower, a light lunch and a tram to some of those shopping streets I've been meaning to check out.  Tonight is pub night so no cooking!!
